A new role is being created within the Wholesale Banking (WB) Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) organisation to further strengthen the First Line of Defence (1st LoD) NonFinancial Risk (NFR) function. We are seeking a skilled and motivated professional to join the CMA 1st LoD NFR team as a NonFinancial Risk Specialist.

The Role

The CMA 1st LoD NFR specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships across the global platform as well as forging a collaborative environment with key business partners within the first second and third lines of defence.

The Team

You will have a governance coordination and overarching business performance responsibility for the CMA organization across the globe. You will work within the CMA 1st line NFR team who comprise of team members based in the Netherlands and the UK and reporting to the Global CMA Governance Lead.

Your Responsibilities

The core focus of the role as part of the CMA 1st line NFR team will be on the following:

Governance:

  • Providing challenge advice and support for identifying analysing and mitigating non-financial risks within WB CMA.
  • Assisting in designing preparing and coordinating various NFR initiatives to help the business remain within its risk appetite and respond to related requirements requests and queries.

Framework / Control Standard:

  • Managing the creation of the CMA Product Control Standard and developing and maintaining the Process Control Standard CMA Framework. This includes describing the CMA activities conducting PBRAs identification of key controls and drafting corresponding test plans and implementing them across the global WB CMA organization.
  • Participating to the design of the CMA Client Control Unit. The objective is to design and implement a structured and automatised control framework from regulation analysis to control execution and reporting including:
    • Understand the complete design of a control unit including governance and data aspects like data flow analysis documentation and automation.
    • Identify which control activities should be centralised and automated.
    • Translate regulatory requirements into operational controls based on rules and data points.

Reporting & Monitoring:

  • Participating to Business & Control Framework Review
    • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of applicable business regulations mostly Financial Economic Crime risk (Know Your Customer - Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Office Due Diligence (ODD)) and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) risks.
    • Assess the current control environment and execution of key controls based on defined testing procedures and report on deficiencies.
  • Work closely with the CMA 1st LoD NFR team on the common touchpoints including implementation of frameworks and control standards roll-out of KCT and its execution in collaboration with ODCR.
  • Leading the management of the remedial actions either self-identified or identified via internal (CAS Compliance QA etc.) or external (ECB DNB FCA etc.) reviews.

Additionally fostering awareness of non-financial risk within CMA through first-line NFR communications and targeted training sessions is an important aspect of the role.

  • Experience of interpreting strategy and policy to set and deliver objectives.
  • Have a proven experience in anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills (English - verbal & written)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Work experience in/with CMA (or related products) would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated strong competence with PowerPoint Excel and SharePoint
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Self-starter with excellent organisational skills and ability to establish and deliver on priorities
  • Enthusiasm for continuous improvement and being part of a high performing team
  • Minimum BA/BS and/or professional qualification in business administration finance or relevant field. Alternatively can show strong analytical skills from another discipline
