Duties: General Description:-Under general supervision performs professional Occupational Therapy activities consisting of planning evaluating establishing and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician. Essential Responsibilities:-Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position.-Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.-Interpret a physicians referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure.-Evaluate patient in the following areas: independent living skills occupational performance prevocational work adjustment educational skills play-leisure abilities social skills and various psychosocial skills.-Interpret the data and develop a treatment plan involving short and long term goals frequency and duration of treatment.-Assist patient in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices joint protection and body mechanics.-Inform patient and family goals and progress.-Assist with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patient on home therapy plan.-May supervise students. General Responsibilities:-Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience:-Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program.-Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities.-Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed.-Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relations with staff.-Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients.-Some computer skills. Preferred Skills & Experience:-N/A
Education: Required Education:-Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy. Preferred Education:-N/A Required Certifications & Licensure:-Current license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapist. -Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Preferred Certifications & Licensure:-N/A
