Job Summary

Roadway Engineer - Transportation About the Job:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team in Overland Park Kansas. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful infrastructure projects that improve mobility safety and connectivity across communities.

You will work on a diverse portfolio of transportation projects including highways interchanges bridge designs and rehabilitations rural and urban roadways intersections roundabouts and pavement management programs. Working alongside experienced project managers and multidisciplinary teams you will play a key role in delivering technically sound and cost-effective design solutions for DOT turnpike municipal and county clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants hands-on design experience increasing client exposure and a clear path toward professional growth and licensure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and production of DOT turnpike municipal and county transportation projects.
  • Support project managers in roadway bridge drainage and traffic control design.
  • Prepare design drawings calculations technical documentation and reports.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to production staff.
  • Contribute to project proposals interviews and client presentations.
  • Attend client meetings to ensure design solutions align with project goals and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 1 5 years of experience in DOT municipal or county transportation projects.
  • Experience in roadway and/or bridge design.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation platforms (OpenRoads InRoads or Geopak preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas preferred or ability to obtain licensure in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with local transportation standards and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong organizational communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines work independently exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information appropriately.
