Job Summary: Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Administers respiratory care to neonate pediatric adult and geriatric patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities.
- Trains and serves as a resource for the respiratory department.
- Maintains knowledge and competency in oxygen delivery methods and equipment.
- Adjusts respiratory care techniques and medication dosages based on patient age and condition.
- Administers respiratory treatments and nebulized medications; monitors for side effects.
- Sets up manages and monitors mechanical ventilators and performs associated critical care duties.
- Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; understands associated risks.
- Follows established sterilization and equipment safety protocols.
- Documents patient care and treatment details accurately in electronic health records.
- Develops and evaluates patient and family education plans.
- Treats patients and families with respect; coordinates care with other departments.
- Assesses patient needs tolerance and response to treatments.
- Manages and inspects respiratory therapy equipment for safe and efficient operation.
- Participates in departmental performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Attends ongoing education and professional development programs.
- Maintains compliance with hospital policies regulatory and registry requirements.
- Requires Montana licensure NBRC RRT certification AHA BLS and completion of ACLS PALS and NRP within 3 months of hire.
- Ability to work varied shifts including nights weekends and on-call as required.
- Must be able to lift move and position patients/equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Requires strong communication organizational math and computer skills.
- Exposed to bloodborne pathogens chemicals infectious diseases and emotionally challenging situations.
