Hills Elementary is one of Santa Fe Souths longest-standing elementary campuses opening during the school year as the networks second elementary school. Located in a beautifully reimagined former department store at Crossroads Hills serves students in PreK through 5th grade and reflects the vibrancy and strength of the surrounding southside community. Position Summary
The Fourth Grade Reading Teacher at Hills Elementary is responsible for delivering rigorous standards-aligned literacy instruction that develops strong reading comprehension vocabulary fluency and writing skills. This role focuses on helping students transition into upper-elementary literacy expectations through structured reading instruction purposeful writing experiences and meaningful engagement with complex texts.
This position is ideal for an educator who values collaboration embraces instructional coaching as a tool for growth and holds consistently high expectations for all students while building a structured joyful classroom culture.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Planning
- Deliver high-quality literacy instruction aligned to Oklahoma Academic Standards and Santa Fe Souths ELA framework
- Teach reading comprehension vocabulary development writing and foundational grammar skills through explicit structured instruction
- Plan and internalize lessons with fidelity including preparing materials anticipating misconceptions and rehearsing instructional strategies
- Implement evidence-based literacy practices including guided reading close reading writing instruction and targeted interventions
- Use formative and summative data to plan differentiated instruction interventions and enrichment
Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Actively participate in Santa Fe Souths instructional coaching model by seeking receiving and implementing feedback to strengthen practice
- Collaborate closely with grade-level teams content teams instructional coaches and campus leadership
- Analyze student work and assessment data to improve instruction and accelerate student growth
- Participate in professional learning communities and campus-wide initiatives
Classroom Culture & Relationships
- Establish a structured joyful and inclusive classroom culture with clear academic and behavioral expectations
- Build strong respectful relationships with students families and colleagues
- Maintain a classroom environment that promotes a love of reading and learning
- Monitor and communicate student progress regularly with families
Campus Contribution
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of Hills Elementary
- Support school-wide literacy initiatives and events
- Uphold the mission and values of Santa Fe South Charter Schools
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
- Oklahoma teaching certification (or eligibility) in Elementary Education
- Strong alignment with Santa Fe Souths mission and commitment to serving the southside community
Preferred
- Experience teaching literacy in grades 35
- Strong understanding of evidence-based reading instruction and interventions
- Experience working in diverse or high-need school communities
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills
- Demonstrated openness to feedback and a growth-oriented mindset
