Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
Position Summary:The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing security operations across our distribution centers. This role ensures a secure work environment by protecting all organizational assets including personnel inventory and facilities from any type of security threat. The Security Manager will develop implement and maintain security procedures and policies to safeguard all aspects of the distribution environment. This position requires a combination of strategic leadership and hands-on management of security personnel systems and technologies including video camera systems fire alarm systems metal detectors and door alarms. The Security Manager will also be responsible for conducting thorough investigations of security and theft incidents including interviews and evidence collection and will collaborate with law enforcement as needed. Additionally the Security Manager will manage contract security guards and may have direct reports in the future ensuring high standards of coverage for all shifts and special events. This role requires a commitment to promoting a culture of safety and support within the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Security Systems and Technologies:
- Oversee and maintain video camera systems fire alarm systems metal detectors and door alarms and locks to ensure proper function and quick response times.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and response during security incidents.
2. Management of Security Staff:
- Manage and direct contract security guards ensuring high standards of coverage for all shifts and special events.
- Facilitate hiring disciplinary actions terminations performance evaluations and employee relations issues for security staff and contractors.
- Provide leadership training and scheduling for security personnel.
3. Security Assessments and Audits:
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure that security strategies policies and procedures align with organizational goals and risk management protocols.
- Identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions to mitigate security risks.
4. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all emergency response and security procedures comply with company policies as well as local state and federal laws.
- Collaborate with the Safety team to ensure safe premises including parking lots and walking paths.
- Address any safety concerns that may impact security operations.
5. Emergency Response Training:
- Develop and deliver training and drills for emergency response events including weather-related incidents fire bomb threats and disease outbreaks.
- Ensure that all security personnel are trained in emergency response procedures and equipped to handle various scenarios.
6. Establishing Contacts with Local Law Enforcement and Emergency Response Agencies
- Build and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
- Coordinate joint training exercises and share relevant security information.
- Support law enforcement during incidents and keep records of interactions.
7. Partnership with Transportation and Inventory Control
- Collaborate with transportation and inventory control to secure merchandise handling.
- Investigate losses or shortages and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure effective security measures and provide relevant training.
8. Incident Reporting and Documentation:
- Oversee the reporting documentation and thorough investigation of security and theft incidents ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Conduct interviews with witnesses and involved parties and collect and preserve evidence related to security and theft incidents.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies providing necessary documentation and evidence to support investigations.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for plant and corporate management review detailing compliance status identified issues investigative findings and corrective actions taken.
9. Coordination with Third-Party Contractors:
- Work closely with third-party security contractors to ensure seamless integration of security services.
- Monitor contractor performance and address any issues or concerns promptly.
10. Budget Management:
- Manage the security budget including staffing equipment and training expenses.
- Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of security.
11. Policy Development and Implementation:
- Implement and maintain security policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all security measures are up-to-date and in alignment with industrys best practices.
12. Performance Metrics (KPIs):
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as the time taken to clear employee shift changes the time and accuracy of trucks processed through the entry checkpoint and overall incident response times.
- Suggest and implement improvements based on KPI analysis.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelors Degree in criminal Justice Security Management or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management preferably in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Strong knowledge of security systems technologies and best practices.
- Excellent organizational analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external stakeholders.
- Experience in managing contract security personnel is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or other relevant security certifications.
- Experience in emergency response planning and training.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Frequent:

Coordinate first aid and CPR training for security personnel and relevant staff. Oversee the reporting and documentation of security incidents preparing comprehensive reports for management review.
Infrequent:
Assist HR as directed to help facilitate hiring disciplinary actions terminations performance evaluations and employee relations issues. Work closely with third-party security contractors to ensure seamless integration of security services and monitor contractor performance. Manage the security budget ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of security. Develop implement and maintain security policies and procedures ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Address safety concerns that may impact security operations and collaborate with the Safety team to ensure safe premises. Other duties as assigned

Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
