Role Purpose:
The Accounts Officer maintains accurate financial records processes transactions prepares reports and ensures compliance with internal controls audits and statutory requirements. The role safeguards the integrity of financial data and supports informed decision-making operational efficiency and adherence to accepted accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
A. Financial Accounting & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with accounting policies and standards.
- Process payments receipts and journal entries.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable ensuring timely invoicing and collections.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure data integrity across ledgers.
B. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Support preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Track departmental budget utilisation and report variances.
- Assist with cost-benefit analysis for operational and capital expenditures.
- Contribute to quarterly financial reviews and management reports.
- Maintain records for accruals prepayments and expense allocations.
C. Compliance Audit & Internal Controls
- Provide documentation during internal and external audits.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies approval limits and internal controls.
- Maintain compliance with statutory obligations (taxes pension and regulatory remittances).
- Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions.
- Identify control gaps and recommend improvements.
D. Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Generate financial summaries for internal stakeholders.
- Monitor cash flow and flag potential liquidity risks.
- Support preparation of annual financial statements.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in reporting.
E. Operational Support & Collaboration
- Liaise with banks vendors and clients to ensure smooth transactions.
- Provide financial data to support operational decisions.
- Support financial review of projects and service activities.
- Contribute to finance digitisation and process automation initiatives.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelors degree or HND in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field
- Masters degree is an advantage
Experience
- 46 years accounting or finance experience
- Experience in reconciliations budgeting and financial reporting
Certifications
- ICAN or ACCA (in progress or qualified) required
- IFRS or accounting software certification is an advantage
