Every day the worlds largest fleets depend on maintenance operations to keep their vehicles and equipment running. When a truck breaks down on the side of a highway or a piece of heavy equipment fails on a job site the cost isnt just a repair bill its missed deliveries idle crews compliance risk and eroded customer trust. Despite the stakes most maintenance teams still run on spreadsheets whiteboards and legacy systems that havent changed in decades. Samsara is changing that.

The Connected Asset Maintenance team is building Samsaras next major product line a modern intelligent maintenance and asset management platform purpose-built for physical operations. Were a few quarters in moving fast and building from the ground up. Think of this as a startup inside Samsara: a small focused team with the full backing of a scaled platform massive distribution and millions of connected assets already generating the data that makes our product uniquely powerful.

Were looking for a Principal Product Manager who will own a significant portion of our Maintenance product. Youll report directly to the VP of Product & Engineering for the Business Unit. One week you might be in a maintenance garage watching a fleet technician diagnose an engine fault and the next youll be whiteboarding a new workflow with your engineering team or jumping on a call with Sales to close a strategic deal. Youll spend serious time on-site with customers not just interviewing them but learning their world: how work orders flow how parts get tracked how a maintenance director decides what gets fixed today versus next week. That depth of understanding is what separates good products from great ones in this space.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in Canada.

In this role you will

  • Become a domain expert in maintenance operations. Build deep lasting relationships with customers maintenance directors fleet managers technicians and translate what you learn into product conviction that the team can rally around.
  • Own the vision strategy and roadmap for your product area within Connected Asset Maintenance. Define where were going why and in what order balancing customer value technical feasibility and business impact. Communicate it clearly to the team to leadership and to customers.
  • Drive the full product lifecycle from discovery and definition through design build launch and iteration. Set success criteria and stage-gates. Ensure we ship on time and at the quality bar our enterprise customers expect.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to build a world-class product. Bring strong opinions on UX and workflow design. Make crisp tradeoff decisions. Use AI tools aggressively to accelerate research spec writing and prototyping and raise the bar for the team.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales Customer Success and Marketing to win strategic deals drive adoption post-sale and build the GTM playbook for a new product line. Youre not above jumping on a sales call or writing enablement materials.
  • Champion role model and embed Samsaras cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success Build for the Long Term Adopt a Growth Mindset Be Inclusive Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role

  • 6 years in a software product management role with demonstrated experience building a new product or business from early stages.
  • A track record of deep customer engagement building real relationships with customers and turning those insights into products that win.
  • Strong technical fluency you can go deep with engineers on data models APIs and system architecture and you establish credibility quickly.
  • Active use of AI tools in your day-to-day product work. You should be able to point to specific ways AI makes you faster and better today.
  • Proven ability to set product vision and roadmaps and to ship products that deliver measurable business results on tight timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills comfortable presenting to enterprise customers senior executives and cross-functional teams. Equally strong writing clear strategy documents and concise product specs.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving clarity. You dont wait for someone to tell you what to do you figure it out and move.

An ideal candidate also has

  • History of working on successful B2B enterprise products and working directly with large customers ($100K ARR).
  • Experience as a founder or at an early-stage startup where you wore multiple hats and owned outcomes end-to-end.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field.
