Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The City of South Bend operates one of the nations most technologically advanced smart sewer systems and maintains a full wastewater digital twin. Our system has been recognized for pioneering next-generation water quality and optimization solutions. As a SCADA Integration Analyst you will work at the forefront of this innovationensuring that real-time data drives efficient compliant and optimized wastewater operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports operations and maintenance leadership by ensuring accurate data and information is available for process decisions
  • Evaluates information to make recommendations to enhance and inform operational strategy
  • Works with Director of SCADA Information Systems to coordinate operational data needs
  • Reviews trends and alerts and performs quality assurance evaluations on process data and equipment
  • Troubleshoots failures in instrumentation and alarms
  • Interacts with wastewater leadership to support environmental regulatory and process requirements
  • Coordinates the installation maintenance and repair of monitoring technology
  • Participates in Division training safety activities and other functions
  • Maintains detailed records of any additions and modifications made to equipment process and procedures
  • Conducts field inspections of structures equipment and instrumentation
  • Works with various departments and outside contractors.
  • Attend specialized conferences and training as necessary
  • Other work as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY

  • Knowledge of data science and its applicability to industrial processes
  • Process control experience desirable
  • Ability to use statistical and analytical tools and methods
  • Ability to communicate effectively within division outside contractors and other utilities.
  • Working familiarity with wastewater systems and applications preferred
  • Ability to read and evaluate schematics and diagrams
  • Knowledge of general MS office software GIS and other applications as necessary
  • Must interact with coworkers and the public with tact and diplomacy.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year degree in natural physical or data science engineering technology or equivalent preferred
  • Environmental or Utility related experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Drivers License required

EQUIPMENT

This employee will be required to operate a computer and other common office addition various specialized equipment related to the measurement of wastewater flow and wastewater chemical and physical characteristics may be used.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or work station.

Work is performed in an office setting with moderate temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately low.

SCHEDULE:

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm May require occasional overtime as needed
