Senior Engineering Manager Core Infrastructure Security
Core Infrastructure at Klaviyo treats system operations as a software engineering discipline. Our mission is to empower product engineers with the services tooling and guidance they need to build and scale systems that are reliable performant and secure.
The Core Infrastructure Security organization is responsible for the foundational security infrastructure that underpins Klaviyos platform. We build and operate core security services automation and tooling that enable product teams to deliver features at scalesecurely and predictably. Our domains include vulnerability management production network defenses identity and access management (IAM) for infrastructure secrets management security tooling and centralized logging.
As a Senior Engineering Manager of the Core Infrastructure Security team you will lead multiple teams and drive the overall strategy and execution for Klaviyos platform security. Youll partner closely with engineering and security leadership to define and deliver a roadmap that strengthens Klaviyos security posture while enabling high developer velocity. This role is both strategic and hands-on: you will set direction coach and grow leaders and ensure operational excellence across our security systems.
How Youll Make a Difference
- Lead and Scale Core Infrastructure Security: Manage and develop multiple engineering teams (typically 23 team leads and 812 engineers) focused on secure infrastructure automation and platform reliability.
- Define Strategy and Roadmap: Establish and drive a cohesive multi-quarter roadmap for platform securitycovering identity and access management secrets management network and perimeter security and developer tooling.
- Shape Platform Security Vision: Partner with leaders in Product Engineering Security & Trust and Infrastructure to evolve Klaviyos approach to security at scale.
- Deliver High-Impact Projects: Oversee major initiatives such as the rollout of an enterprise secrets management solution next-generation IAM infrastructure and web application firewall (WAF) enhancements.
- Develop Leaders and Teams: Coach engineering managers and senior engineers to strengthen leadership capabilities technical depth and execution excellence.
- Drive Operational Maturity: Champion improvements in observability incident response and automation to reduce operational load and increase system resilience.
- Foster Cross-Functional Alignment: Build strong partnerships across engineering security compliance and product organizations to ensure security initiatives align with business priorities.
- Raise the Bar: Contribute to organization-wide process improvements in recruiting onboarding performance management and technical operations practices.
Who You Are
- A proven engineering leader with experience managing managers and scaling distributed teams in infrastructure reliability or security domains.
- Experienced in defining long-term strategies and driving large-scale platform initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Adept at developing technical leadersyou invest in mentorship delegation and building high-performing autonomous teams.
- Skilled at balancing security and velocity and making pragmatic tradeoffs between risk and developer productivity.
- Comfortable engaging in deep technical discussions around infrastructure design automation and secure-by-default system patterns.
- Experienced in building and operating secure scalable and resilient systems in cloud-native environments.
- A strong communicator and collaborator who can influence at all levels of the organization and build alignment across functions.
