Job Summary
The Grout Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the bicomponent grout pump used on the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). This role requires technical skill precision strong situational awareness and the ability to work safely in confined underground and pressurized environments. The Grout Operator works closely with the TBM crew to support continuous safe and efficient tunnel advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the bicomponent grout pump in accordance with project standards and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with the TBM Pilot TBM Foreman Surface Foreman and Batching Plant Operator to ensure accurate and consistent grouting operations.
- Work collaboratively with the Plant Team to support timely and accurate maintenance of equipment.
- Communicate and coordinate with shift management (Shift Superintendent Shift Engineer or Shift Manager) to align on operational needs.
- Inspect pumps tanks and associated components at the end of each shift to identify mechanical or electrical issues wear or safety hazards.
- Perform cleaning of the grout system as required.
- Safely operate pressurized lines and support pressurized system control.
- Assemble and maintain pipework including the use of pigs for pipeline cleaning.
- Safely operate highpressure washing equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures confinedspace protocols and emergency response guidelines.
- Document daily activities equipment performance and any incidents or irregularities.
- Support general TBM operations as needed including tunnel cleaning assisting during TBM stoppages or cavern crossings cutterhead cleaning cutter disc changes mucking activities conveyor adjustments and general housekeeping.
Qualifications :
- 23 years of experience as a Grout Operator on a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces underground environments and rotating shift schedules.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe compliant and productive work environment.
