Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide Survey support
- Provide general survey assistance to the Surveyor as instructed both on surface and underground.
- Facilitate the transporting of equipment to and from underground working areas.
- Support the installation of pegs grades and laser equipment.
- Assist with conducting scanning activities and gathering accurate survey data.
- Assist with monthend measuring of development ends/excavations and production stopes.
- Complete installations accurately and within required timeframes.
- Identify and report hazards encountered underground.
- Identify and report noncompliance with standards and procedures.
- Ensure all relevant equipment is available when required.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition including cleaning after each underground trip.
- Ensure all equipment is charged and ready for use.
- Adhere to required work standards and operational procedures.
- Actively engage as a team member in all team processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory legislative and permitting requirements.
This role is at a Band B2 level reporting to the Chief Surveyor.
Qualifications :
- Grade 12 with maths and science
- Basic Surveying or Chamber of Mines Elementary Survey Certificate advantageous
- Competent B Certificate
- Valid EB/Code 08 drivers license
Experience and Technical Knowledge
- 1-3 years relevant mining experience
- Basic mine surveying techniques including the use of survey tools and application of standard underground surveying procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret mine layouts plans and basic mapping information used in underground environments.
- Knowledge of underground measurement functions including distances elevations and monthly production measurements.
- Understanding of underground health safety and hazard identification requirements relevant to survey activities.
