Background information

Aflatoun International is a non-profit organisation which offers social and financial education to children and young people worldwide empowering them to make a positive change for a more equitable world. We work with a network of 300 organisations in more than 100 countries transforming the lives of more than 10.5 million children and young people.

At the core of our organization lies the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Team where we focus on comprehending the effectiveness and impact of Aflatouns programs. We are also committed to enhancing the capacity of Aflatouns partners in monitoring and evaluating social and financial education initiatives.

Aflatoun has conducted an impressive 100 research studies employing various methodologies including rigorous Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) conducted in countries such as Cameroon Burkina Faso India Tajikistan Rwanda and recent years Aflatoun has been actively engaged in numerous internal and external projects solidifying its reputation as a knowledge partner in the realm of social and financial education.

Responsibilities

Building on this the Aflatoun Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning (MERL) team is looking for an intern to work closely with Aflatouns team on the following tasks:

Main activities/tasks

1. Knowledge and Data Management (80%)

1. Collate historical evidence gathered by Aflatoun and centralize it in one repository.

1. Index and file new evidence into the internal repository as it is generated.

1. Support in organizing updating and verifying the MERL database and Project Data.

1. Disseminate evidence both internally and to external stakeholders through various platforms such as webinars journals blogs etc.

1. Assist in the development of new M&E tools to measure the effectiveness of various Aflatoun programs.

   Other General Support (20%)
   

1. Provide support in the annual survey.

Throughout the internship the intern will have the opportunity to support additional activities conducted by the MERL team and gain familiarity with the activities of other departments within the organization including the Education & Digital Team the Communications Team and the Programme Team. The intern will be encouraged to participate in meetings with Aflatoun staff.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in the final stages of masters studies or recently graduated in fields such as education development studies knowledge management psychology or public policy.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel along with experience in SPSS STATA or other statistical software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in social and financial education programs.
• Previous experience or qualifications in knowledge management including organizing centralizing and disseminating information effectively.
• A team player who can easily adapt to changing priorities and needs.
• Proficiency in English.
• Eligible to undertake an internship in the Netherlands for the next four to six months.
