Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Low-Voltage Structured Cabling Technician with strong Audiovisual installation experience to join our team on a prevailing wage project. This role requires a technician with at least 4 years of high-level hands-on experience in commercial environments. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with structured cabling systems AV integration and the ability to work independently on complex installations.
This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for a technician who understands industry standards works efficiently with minimal supervision and maintains high-quality workmanship on every project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install terminate label and test structured cabling systems (Cat5e Cat6 Cat6A fiber optic coax).
- Perform rack and stack cable management patch panel terminations and MDF/IDF buildouts.
- Install and integrate audiovisual systems including displays projectors speakers microphones control panels and conferencing systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints floor plans riser diagrams and schematics.
- Perform cable certification and testing using industry-standard testing equipment.
- Install cable pathways including conduit J-hooks cable tray and sleeves in commercial environments.
- Troubleshoot low-voltage and AV systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain clean organized and code-compliant work areas.
- Coordinate with project managers general contractors and other trades on-site.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of structured cabling experience in commercial environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Audiovisual system installation and integration.
- Proven experience with fiber terminations and testing (MM and SM preferred).
- Ability to independently complete rack builds and AV device installations.
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience working on prevailing wage or public works projects preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to job sites.
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
