Job Summary

Position: Deputy Division Director Families Community Building and Workforce Development

Salary Range: S90000 - $110000

Reports to: Division Director

Location: Brooklyn NY - Must be able to travel to various locations throughout Brooklyn

Hours: Full Time - Must be available evenings and weekends in case of emergencies

About the Division

The BCS Division for Families Community Building and Workforce Development currently operates 17 programs across 8 Brooklyn locations. Funded by multiple city and state agencies we provide comprehensive servicesincluding family counseling youth development case management job readiness financial literacy and health and wellness and adult educationto help Brooklynites maintain and establish stable nurturing safe environments in which they can thrive.

Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive dynamic strategic leader to oversee our diverse portfolio of community-based services. The Deputy Director is a visible leadership role responsible for managing professional staff navigating complex government contracts and driving program innovation.

Key Responsibilities & Attributes

  • Strategic Leadership: Act as a hands-on planner and problem solver capable of guiding staff through organizational change.

  • Operational Excellence: Manage multi-site operations and ensure compliance with NYC and NY State agency requirements.

  • Expert Communication: Effectively engage with diverse stakeholders from service recipients and community members to elected officials and agency administrators.

  • Community Focus: Leverage deep experience in youth and family services to meet

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and oversee compliance requirements for all funders of Division programming.

  • Ensure that program directors are completing necessary tasks and all requirements are fulfilled on time

  • Ensure alignment with BCS standards policies protocols and procedures with an emphasis on safety and health

  • Communicate expectations contractual and funder requirements task assignments and deadlines to program directors and when appropriate program staff

  • Oversee and ensure communication between program directors and staff colleagues supervisors and funder contacts

  • Provide emergency coverage to all program sites in the portfolio. This includes Site Director call-outs vacation days after a high-risk incident during announced and unannounced funder and regulator evaluations and audits; others as needed

  • Provide on-site coverage for staff when needed.

  • Conduct in-person site visits to all programs within the portfolio in conjunction with the Division Director ensuring each program has at least two in-person site visits per month. Perform regular and consistent program site visits (both announced and unannounced) to conduct internal audits/evaluations in accordance with funding requirements (this includes admin audits desk audits and classroom observations);

  • Ensure programs are effective and designed to achieve measurable goals in line with BCS mission and contractual obligations.

  • Oversee and monitor funder databases to ensure programs are meeting contract compliance

  • Develop and implement staff professional development and teambuilding workshops

  • Participate in cross-agency working groups and committees to achieve agency goals; attend training seminars division staff meetings and community meetings as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Public Administration or a related discipline required; MSW or equivalent Masters Degree preferred

  • Must be eligible for SACC certification

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience managing programs in non-profits and /or social services including at least 3 years in a senior supervisory role.

  • Experience with effective management of crisis intervention handling mental health and medical issues with participants and working with people with histories of trauma

  • Proficient in typing responding to emails and making phone calls

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Google Suite Spreadsheets and Calendar Development

  • Excellent track record of meeting and exceeding compliance and regulatory benchmarks and management of the same

  • Excellent leadership communication supervisory and team-building skills including the ability to motivate align staff efforts to changing priorities and approaches set goals delegate responsibilities and manage staff performance so as to ensure effective service delivery in accordance with organizational goals and program contracts
