Position Details:

Lactation Consultant RN (LDRP)

Location:Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd Saint Louis MO 63128

Status:PRN (As Needed)

Overview

Responsible for assessment problem identification and problem-solving for patient/staff education relating to breastfeeding. Develops implements and evaluates the lactation education program. Emphasis with focus on antepartum postpartum nurseries and specifically related outpatient clientele.

Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelors degree required along with specialized training or completion of a relevant internship.

  • Licensure:Must hold a current RN license or RN Temporary Permit in the State of Missouri.

  • Experience:Minimum of 23 years of professional experience required.

  • Certifications:Lactation education certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education:Advanced degree or additional relevant coursework preferred.

  • Licensure:Additional or multi-state licensure preferred.

  • Experience:Prior experience in lactation support or related specialty preferred.

  • Certifications:Additional certifications in maternal-child health or lactation consulting preferred.

  • Other:Strong communication skills ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
  • Significant bending stooping and patient lifting/turning with assistance
  • Ability to push pull and grip up to 50 lbs
