Senior Network Operations Engineer Computing Services

Carnegie Mellon Universitys department ofComputing Services is searching for aSenior Network Operations Engineer. This is a dynamic opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willcontributeto the department by providing essential support by deploying configuring maintaining and monitoring of LAN and WAN networks.

Core Responsibilities:

• Monitor and ensure the security and reliability of network infrastructure.

• Collect and analyze data to evaluate network performance diagnose issues and define user and system requirements.

• Deploy configure manage and monitor Wireless LAN and WAN environments including routing switching DNS DHCP 802.11 wireless LANs TCP/IP Ethernet SNMP and VPN technologies.

• Maintain accurate and current network documentation.

• Provide tier 3 support for complex network issues performing advanced troubleshooting and implementing effective solutions.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

• Problem-solving and reasoning skills

• Organization planning and project management skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• 35 years of experience in Network Administration Network Deployment and Support and/or Network Security Administration.

• CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification preferred.

• Advanced experience and/or certification with Cisco Systems and/or Aruba Networks wireless infrastructure deployments desired; experience with other wireless vendors also valued.

• Experience with cloud connectivity service deployment and operations.

• A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
