Job Summary
Unitrans is seeking to employ Professional Bus Drivers with proven experience. Drives a bus to transport passengers on scheduled services over
established routes. Controls lighting heating and ventilation for the passengers. Observes prescribed speeds traffic travelling conditions
an signals to ensure the safe arrival of passengers. Ensures passengers arrive at destinations on time. Holds the appropriate license and a PrDP.
This category is restricted commercial contrast which are not subsidized by government.
What unique contribution does this work make to the organization
Must have a Public Services Driving License (PG) mastery of defensive and preventive driving techniques ensuring the safety of both passengers and other road users. Furthermore you must know and strictly obey traffic laws avoiding infractions and accidents. Comply with company code of conduct policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely transport passengers to and from designated destinations.
- Adhere to all road traffic laws and company safety regulations.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior and exterior.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules accurately.
- Ensure that you do not deviate from the assigned route without authorization.
- Assist passengers when boarding and disembarking where necessary.
- Report any mechanical faults accidents or incidents immediately.
- Complete required trip logs and documentation accurately.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service.
- Attend all compulsory safety meetings and participate in required training programmes.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: Grade 12
- Drivers license categories: Valid EC with valid PrDP:GP
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the same or similar position.
- Dover and Red Permit is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent knowledge of traffic rules and road safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform vehicle inspections.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with passengers.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Must be willing to work weekends public holidays and overtime as required.
- Professionalism and courteous behavior at all times.
- Time management and punctuality to maintain schedules.
