The Procurement Specialist conducts and enables routine procurement activities for the SC Department of Veterans Affairs.

Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist:

  • Performs entry-level or routine procurement duties.
  • Reviews and examine documents to procure goods services and information technology by determining the best procurement method.
  • Use solicitation process for the Department as required.
  • Ensures all SC State procurement code requirements and Department policies and procedures are followed.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions and apprise the requisitioner of items available through state contracts other alternate potential suppliers and Department contracts.
  • Processes requisitions through all stages of the procurement.
  • Provides assistance to Deputy Director of Procurement with market research drafting documents formatting documents proofing documents tracking procurements and special projects assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelors degree may be substituted for the work experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Position may require overnight travel.
  • Position requires routine driver duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Veteran status is preferred but not required.
