Job Summary

AWS Data Platform Architect

Location: REMOTE or Memphis TN

Duration: 18 Months Extensions (Long-term contract w/ no end date. Could possibly go perm if candidate desires)

Interview: Virtual - but local to Memphis need to go for in-person

Overview

We are seeking a highly technical AWS Data Platform Architect to lead the design and modernisation of enterprise cloud data and AI platform capabilities.

This role is ideal for a hands-on architect who combines strong AWS cloud architecture experience with deep Python and data engineering expertise. You will define scalable data platform standards while actively contributing to solution design implementation and modernisation initiatives.

This is not a documentation-only architecture role - the ideal candidate remains close to engineering execution.

Required Qualifications

10 years of experience in data engineering cloud architecture or enterprise platform development

Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g. S3 Glue Redshift EMR Lambda ECS/EKS)

Advanced Python development experience in data-intensive environments

Experience building and optimizing large-scale data pipelines

Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g. Spark)

Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting AI/ML or programmatic AI agent implementations

Experience with Airflow and dbt

Experience working with open data and modern file formats

Container orchestration experience (Kubernetes/EKS)

Security-focused architecture experience

Experience contributing to enterprise architecture standards or modernization initiatives
