St. Martins Episcopal School is excited to offer a Counselor in Training (CIT) opportunity for students ages 1415 who are interested in working with children and learning what it means to be a summer camp counselor.
This program is designed to help students gain experience build confidence and develop skills they can use in future summers as paid counselors.
Camp Dates & ScheduleCIT availability: June 1 July 24 2026 (CITs must commit to a minimum of two weeks)
Mandatory staff training: May:00 am - 4:00 pm
Camp schedule: Monday Friday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Meals are provided at no cost
About the RoleCounselors in Training work with children ages 512 under the supervision of experienced camp staff. CITs support counselors and division leaders while learning how to safely and responsibly care for campers. This is a non-paid position but CITs may earn service hours. Most importantly this role provides hands-on experience and prepares participants to return in future summers as paid counselors. At all times CITs are expected to be positive role models enthusiastic participants and respectful team members.
You will report to your Summer Camp Division Leader and interact daily with campers counselors parents/caregivers and St. Martins Episcopal School summer staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Division Leaders Counselors and fellow CITs to ensure campers are supervised at all times
Actively and enthusiastically participate in all camp activities
Assist with activities such as swimming arts & crafts sports and outdoor play (All activities are supervised this is a training role)
Help Division Leaders prepare activities for rainy days schedule changes and downtime
Assist with morning setup including water coolers
Assist with lunch setup and cleanup
Support the daily care of campers under the direction of group leaders
Attend all required camp meetings and mandatory training sessions
Qualifications
Must be at least 14 years old
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
(Training sessions are provided prior to the start of camp)
