About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Operations EMEA the Vetting Officer plays an important role in supporting the vetting process and assisting customers including ship managers and charterers. This position involves reviewing operational data managing incoming enquiries and ensuring the accuracy of information within our vetting platform.

This role is suitable for both experienced seafarers and junior officers/engineers looking to transition into a shorebased maritime safety career.

Key Responsibilities

Vetting & Operational Support

  • Review and classify PSC reports incident reports and terminal feedback.
  • Assess the quality of root cause analyses and corrective/preventive actions; follow up with ship managers when improvements are needed.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in the vetting platform.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the vetting teammonitoring daily communications responding to routine queries and escalating timesensitive issues.
  • Handle routine vettingrelated enquiries from external stakeholders.
  • Ensure high standards of data accuracy validation and recordkeeping.
  • Organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and deliver consistent highquality customer service.
  • Support enquiries about RightShip products and activities (e.g. vetting inspections Safety Score GHG rating).
  • Maintain and archive documentation in line with company procedures.

Qualifications Skills & Experience

Required

  • Seagoing experience as a qualified deck or engineering officer (senior ranks preferred junior officers and engineers welcome to apply).
  • A solid understanding of shipboard safety practices; tanker experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Practical familiarity with ship operations onboard systems safety management and general maritime procedures.
  • Understanding of ship surveys certifications and regulatory frameworks (Class PSC/Flag IMO/ILO ISM STCW).
  • Awareness of current industry standards and best practices (e.g. OCIMF ICS) for dry bulk oil chemical or gas vessels.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Training or exposure to incident investigation or root cause analysis.
  • Experience or involvement in shipboard safety management (e.g. Safety Officer duties).
