QuidelOrtho is looking for a Engineering Intern Industrial Manufacturingthat wants to spend their summer working towards our mission: Changing Lives One Test at a Time. Interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their skills all while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. Our team will help students apply their educational background and broaden their knowledge base within their role and learn more about working in the medical device/biotech industry. Interns will work with a mentor(s) on a guided and impactful project and will be able to collaborate with and be part of a supportive and dedicated team.
This Internship is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid program for 10-12 weeks.
Session 1: June 15th through August 31st
Session 2: July 6th through September 31st
This role is to provide Line Engineering oversight of Film Coating equipment and supporting systems to efficiently maintain and reliably operate the manufacturing equipment on site. Strong focus will be on supporting reliability and overall coating equipment effectiveness projects in Manufacturing.
This position is onsite in Rochester NY.
Identify and develop preventative and predictive maintenance to maximize uptime and reduce maintenance costs while improving reliability quality productivity and safety results.
Exercises independent judgement in selecting methods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on new assignments.
Formulates strategies for the development of programs that bring new and improved project management and engineering technology into the company.
Develop a process for easily and efficiently identifying engineering drawings in a readily accessible index.
Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects by ensuring quality of data collection and analysis summary and interpretation of results.
The intern will create an index of technical drawings and turn over the program to Manufacturing Engineering.
The intern will provide detailed project notes upon the completion of each project or upon turning over the project to Manufacturing Engineering at the completion of their assignment.
The intern will present a PowerPoint presentation on his/her work to a cross-functional group.
Required:
Filed of Study: Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering Process Engineering
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelors or Masters program in the Fall Semester 2024 at an accredited university or college.
Student must start on June 15th or July 6th. Must be able to complete a consecutive 10-12 week internship.
Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Minimum Year in School : Rising Junior or Senior

Preferred:
1 Year of leadership role (job internship project etc)
SolidWorks or other CAD program
Experience with GMP compliance
The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing laboratory or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards potentially hazardous chemicals as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids tissues and samples. Up to 75% of the time you will be standing walking or sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education experience knowledge skills geography and abilities of the candidate in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for current Freshman rising Sophomore is 18.00/hour; Sophomore rising Junior is 20/hour; Junior rising senior is $23.00/hour to $26.00/hour; Senior enrolled in school for fall 2024 is 25.00/hour to 28.00/hour; or currently enrolled Graduate MBD PhD program is 28.00/hour to 30.00/hour.
