The Assistant Laytime Manager supports the Laytime/Operations team in calculating verifying and negotiating laytime and demurrage claims related to voyage charters COA shipments and time charter operations. The role ensures timely claim resolution accurate documentation and alignment with charter party terms while coordinating with internal teams shipowners charterers agents and terminals.
1. Laytime & Demurrage Calculations
- Prepare preliminary and final laytime statements for imports exports and transshipment voyages.
- Review Notice of Readiness (NOR) Statement of Facts (SOF) time sheets and port logs for accuracy.
- Calculate demurrage dispatch and other related claims as per charter party terms.
- Reconcile discrepancies in SOF with agents and terminals.
2. Claim Management
- Raise review and negotiate demurrage and dispatch claims with shipowners charterers and counterparties.
- Track claim status and ensure timely settlement within contractual timelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim records supporting documents and correspondence.
3. Contract & Charter Party Review
- Interpret laytime exceptions and demurrage clauses in voyage charter time charter and COA contracts.
- Highlight risks operational restrictions and cost implications to the Laytime Manager and Operations team.
4. Operational Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Operations Commercial and Shipping Execution teams to gather operational data.
- Follow up with agents terminals and surveyors for missing or incomplete documents.
- Assist in post-fixture documentation and voyage closing.
5. Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on:
- Open claims
- Settled claims
- Demurrage cost trends
- Delay causes and patterns
- Support management in improving operational performance and reducing demurrage exposure.
6. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all laytime and claim documentation complies with internal policies.
- Maintain accurate filing of NOR SOF voyage instructions CPs and communications.
Qualifications :
- Masters degree in supply chain/Logistics or equivalent.
- 3-5 Years of relevant working experience.
