Schedule: 40 Hours per week

Work Year: Full Year Position - 52 weeks

Summary

  • The Skilled Maintenance Technician is directly responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the school district Operations functions. This includes minor construction preventative maintenance troubleshooting and repairs along with safety compliance and compliance of all appropriate codes rules and regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Working as district Skilled Maintenance staff; Performs general maintenance work in repairing buildings fixtures and equipment. This work includes electrical plumbing carpentry brick and block work painting demolition minor construction.
  • Working with the district HVAC Technician; repairs and maintains all types of commercial air conditioning and refrigeration units gas hot water and hot air heating systems air handlers ventilators cooling coils chiller units and radiators along with other mechanical heating and ventilating equipment.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime responding to emergencies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial and/or the Executive Director of Operations and Transportation.

Employment Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Work experience should relate to facility maintenance with institutional experience being desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize organize and plan daily tasks emergencies and long term projects.
  • Effectively communicate with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as workload and project needs change.
  • Electrical experience or other professional licensure are desirable as a part of facility maintenance / institutional maintenance.

Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors include but are not limited to continual walking standing climbing stooping bending kneeling reaching heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district-wide travel. On call.
Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force frequently and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires climbing and maneuvering on ladders scaffolding and/or in tight spaces.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally high depending upon the student population and activities. The employee may be exposed to various conditions including wet or humid work near moving parts work in high precarious places various cleaning agents some hazardous chemicals and fumes outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids and blood-borne pathogens.
