About the unit
This unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This units primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include patients that have a cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care. Open-heart patients direct from the OR vascular surgery thoracic surgery TAVR procedure and STEMI intervention. Nurses will care for patients requiring ventilator support special training on SWAN-GANZ catheters vasopressors inotrope drips high alert drips intra-aortic balloon pumps continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) IMPELLA devices and chest tubes. Nurse to patient ratio 1:2 for regular ICU patients high acute 1:1; there are times we may need you to be 1:3 depending on staffing needs and the acuity in the unit as a whole.

Scope of work
The Non-Invasive (NIV) Cardiology Techs at Dearborn Hospital are a jack of all trades in cardiac testing. They work primarily in the Stress Lab doing a variety of different stress tests including exercise treadmill tests nuclear stress tests and stress addition they also perform tilt table testing and they set-up patients with cardiac monitors (Holters and Events). The NIV Cardiology Techs also rotate through the EKG department as well and perform EKGs on inpatients and outpatients as well as manage the EKG database system for the hospital. They are a vital piece to the Cardiology team and assist in other projects as needed.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
1 Year Experience in EKG Tech
6 months to 1 year of stress testing experience preferred.
