Woodwind Choir Clinician

POSITION SUMMARY

The Woodwind Choir Clinician is responsible for evaluating ensemble performances in a fair consistent and constructive manner during festivals competitions or assessments. The judge provides detailed feedback on musicality technique ensemble cohesion and overall artistry supporting the educational growth of participating musicians and directors

REPORTS TO: Band Director

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Evaluate woodwind choir performances according to established adjudication criteria and scoring rubrics
  • Assess tone quality intonation blend balance articulation phrasing rhythm interpretation and stage presence
  • Provide clear constructive written and/or recorded verbal feedback for ensembles and directors
  • Assign scores and rankings (if applicable) in accordance with event guidelines
  • Maintain professionalism objectivity and impartiality throughout the adjudication process
  • Meet all event timelines for scoring submission and commentary completion
  • Participate in post-performance clinics or feedback sessions when requested

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered.

  • Extensive background in woodwind performance and/or conducting (e.g. flute oboe clarinet bassoon saxophone)
  • Degree in Music Performance Music Education Conducting or related field (preferred)
  • Prior adjudication experience at the middle school high school collegiate or community level
  • Strong knowledge of woodwind literature and ensemble repertoire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide balanced educational and encouraging critique
