Job Summary

The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Engineer in sustaining production and implementing process improvements. Assists production by ensuring facilities equipment tooling fixtures materials and documentation meet production and quality requirements. Supports the transfer of new products and processes into production. Helps identify and implement Lean manufacturing initiatives to create and maintain production flow increase throughput and decrease costs.

  • Provide general support to production to ensure high volume manufacturing is unimpeded;
    • Review and edit production work instructions procedures and forms.
    • Participate in the evaluation of upgrades for assembly.
    • Participate in hands-on problem solving and resolution of product and process issues.
    • Report and facilitate correction of out-of-specification conditions.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment.
    • Order equipment and materials for production need.
  • Interfaces with R&D Quality and Regulatory to coordinate the release of new products;
    • Create production work instructions procedures and forms for new products.
    • Assist with production equipment layout and setup.
    • Train production personnel on new products processes and equipment.
    • Estimate yield cycle time and cost for new products.
    • Runs pre-pilot orders to ensure production systems and processes are ready for high volume manufacturing.
  • Works with the manufacturing engineer to identify and implement continuous improvement projects;
    • Improves manufacturing processes through optimization of production methods and equipment.
    • Assists with Lean manufacturing projects including 5S Value Stream Mapping Six Sigma and Standardization.
    • Reviews production data to identify trends and resolve yield issues.
    • Assists with establish long-term stability monitors for production equipment.
    • Update systems and programs to ensure they are adding value.
    • Assists with development and implementation of production automation.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Associate degree in technical field (science math engineering or other related degree) is preferred;
  • Manufacturing experience in Medical Devices specifically Cardio-Vascular products is preferred;
  • Experience in manufacturing process improvements and lean manufacturing concepts like 5S and Value Stream Mapping is preferred;
  • Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent math and data analysis skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to write and execute protocols;
  • Ability to develop and conduct studies and experiments;
  • Ability to train manufacturing/QC/technicians;
  • Ability to use personal computers including software such as Word PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Self-starter and highly motivated;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced collaborative team environment;
  • Ability to work with little supervision;
  • Ability to have fun by motivating and encouraging other team members.
