The Academy launched 1st July 2024 is a dynamic academic unit comprising three disciplines/departments: English Language and Literature (ENG) Humanities and Creative Writing (HMW) and Translation Interpreting and Intercultural Studies (TIIS) under the Faculty. Our vision is to be a leading centre of excellence fostering linguistic diversity creative expression and intercultural communication. We empower students and scholars to bridge cultural divides and innovate in literary linguistic and translation arts contributing to a globally interconnected world. The Academy offers multiple programmes including BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature BA (Hons) in Humanities BA (Hons) in Creative and Professional Writing and BA (Hons) in Translation along with a range of taught postgraduate programmes.
We seek candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to transdisciplinary and innovative teaching and research and to advancing the humanities languages and translation through creative and/or computational approaches as appropriate to their fields. Preference will be given to applicants with (i) an active research programme addressing contemporary issues relevant to the advertised area(s); (ii) a strong international research profile with evidence of successful grant record and research outputs; (iii) experience in collaborative research and curriculum development across departments or disciplines; and (iv) bilingual proficiency in English and a second language preferably Chinese where relevant to the position.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline such as Cultural Studies Translation Studies Media Studies Digital Humanities Computational Linguistics Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in appropriate qualitative quantitative experimental and/or digital research methods as relevant to their area of specialisation.
For the appointments at rank of Professor and Associate Professor candidates should demonstrate an outstanding track record of institutional leadership including directing major projects shaping curricula and undertaking significant administrative roles alongside sustained excellence in teaching research and service.
An initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. Outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment with tenure.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
