Job Description
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Establish stronger presence and recognition of Takeda and our strategic and external innovation interests in the China Ecosystem through building and leveraging a broad partnership network
- Drive external innovation activities and strategy in areas of priority for Takeda working in collaboration with Global R&D colleagues including CEI Research Therapeutic Area Units (TAU) R&D China and APAC Region leaders
- Inform TAU/Research/ R&D China and APAC Region strategic planning by providing insights on external trends and landscape in China
- Collaborate with CEI Boston leaders R&D Portfolio Strategy and R&D China and APAC Region to support the development of partnering strategy (technology/platforms/asset) to address gaps/pipeline innovation needs/corporate growth needs
- Proactively monitor and communicate scientific clinical and commercial insights in China relevant to Takedas therapeutic areas/indications of interest
- Effectively bridge breakthrough science and/or transforming technology platform opportunities with all relevant internal stakeholder groups
- Recommend partnership or investment proposals working with CEI Boston providing scientific and business rationale
- Acquire and maintain thorough and current knowledge of:
- Relevant therapeutic area science discovery platforms targets therapeutic approaches
- Takedas portfolio including gaps and strengths
- Provide local support to cross functional technical evaluation and due diligence efforts for prioritized opportunities
- Lead partnering interactions at key regional partnering and scientific conferences
- Maintain a broad network in China and leverage the Takeda organization (scientists clinicians commercial managers) to ensure maximal sourcing capability for the assigned area
- Serve as an Ambassador for CEI to ensure Takeda is perceived as a Partner of Choice with outside organizations;clearly communicate Takedas BD priorities and evaluative process to partners
Basic Requirements:
- PhD or MD or MBA and minimum of 15 years in industry with a mixture of China and Global leadership roles
R&D Qualifications & Skills
- VC BD or consulting leadership roles in life sciences
- Broad network in the China biopharma ecosystem
- Strong scientific understanding of drug discovery and development
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior executive teams
- Ability to think critically creatively and to anticipate and solve problems
- Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced highly matrixed work environment
- Comfortable with ambiguity
