CITY OF ELKHART JOB DESCRIPTION DEPARTMENT Parks and Recreation POSITION Cashier- Aquatics Facilities DIVISION Aquatics STATUS Full Time/Seasonal CATEGORY Hourly $13-$16 FLSA Non-Exempt REPORTS TO Aquatic Assistant Manager JOB SUMMARY Cashiers provide admissions concessions and guest service support at aquatic facilities including Spray Park Ideal Beach and Pierre Moran Pool. This position supports facility operations through accurate financial transactions customer service and maintaining clean and welcoming public areas. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Collect admissions and process financial transactions accurately using POS systems. Prepare and serve ready-to-heat or ready-to-serve food items as assigned. Provide excellent guest service by assisting patrons and maintaining a welcoming environment. Maintain accurate attendance and financial records. Support aquatic operations by monitoring guest flow and assisting visitors. Maintain cleanliness and organization of concessions admissions areas and surrounding spaces. Communicate effectively with supervisors and aquatics staff. Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school education or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. First aid certification preferred. Cash handling experience preferred. Food handling experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to handle cash transactions accurately. Must be able to do arithmetic calculations and balancing of the drawer at the end of the shift. Customer service experience is a plus. Ability to work with people and calm/deescalate tense situations when necessary. Must be able to effectively prioritize daily work functions. PHYSICAL MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS Must have the ability and history of remaining calm and rational when confronted with stressful or volatile situations. Must have a positive demeanor when in contact with the public. WORKING CONDITIONS Work environment is generally performed in an indoor setting. Cashiers will typically work afternoon hours and weekends. Occasionally hours will be extended to cover Parks and Recreation programs or private rentals. Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time. POST OFFER TESTING REQUIRED The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore successfully passing a post offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment). Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
