Pianist / OrganistInuit Congregation (Inuktitut-Language Worship)Position SummarySt. Margarets Anglican Church is seeking a Pianist or Organist to provide musical accompaniment for the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Inuktitut-language worship successful candidate will provide organ and/or piano accompaniment for congregational hymns and incidental liturgical music and will work collaboratively with the Incumbent Priest and designated lay leaders from the Inuit congregation to support meaningful and culturally rooted role is a part-time position requiring both onsite and offsite preparation time each of WorkOnsite: Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 Preparation: Approximately two (2) hours per week conducted offsite (practice music preparation hymn coordination and email communication).Salary: $27/hourAdditional services may be scheduled in consultation with the Incumbent ResponsibilitiesWorship Leadership and AccompanimentProvide piano and/or organ accompaniment for the 11:30 a.m. Inuktitut-language Sunday congregational hymns and provide incidental music at various points throughout the liturgy (e.g. prelude offertory communion postlude as appropriate).Support confident congregational singing in a manner that is sensitive to the musical traditions and language of the Inuit onsite and prepared to begin promptly at the designated service Selection and PreparationUse the congregations Inuktitut Hymnal as the principal source for music selections (sheet music provided).Select hymns in consultation with the Incumbent Priest or a designated lay leader from the Inuit music in advance to ensure confident and supportive regularly with clergy and lay leadership regarding upcoming services special themes or liturgical ServicesIn consultation with the Incumbent Priest the Pianist or Organist may be scheduled to provide music for additional services throughout the year including but not limited to:Christmas EveChristmas DayAsh WednesdayMaundy ThursdayGood FridayThe Pianist or Organist may also be requested to provide music for weddings memorial services and funerals held at St. Margarets Anglican in piano and/or organ accompaniment suitable for congregational to support congregational singing confidently and accompanying church services or similar worship settings is with Anglican liturgy is an of the Inuktitut language is considered a strong for and sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic traditions of the Inuit accordance with Section 24(1) of the Ontario Human Rights Code preference will be given to applicants who are members of the Anglican Church or who demonstrate a strong understanding of Anglican worship and liturgical AttributesCollaborative and respectful team and working with clergy and lay and responsive to liturgical of the mission and worship life of the Anglican the Inuit Congregation at St. MargaretsThe 11:30 a.m. Inuktitut-language service serves members of Ottawas Inuit community and others who wish to worship in Inuktitut.
