You will work directly with members of the Living Exhibits team in the Nature Exchange (tropical butterflies and exotic invertebrates) and Northern Ecosystems floors (animals of Northern Ontario).Key Responsibilities: Prepare food for daily animal feedingsClean maintain and monitor habitats and enclosures including verification of water qualityAccurately document and maintain feeding schedules cleaning medications handling and biometric measuresResearch information on our vertebrates and invertebrates for enrichment and education purposesAssist with animal demonstrations and answer visitor questions related to animal care while working in public-facing areasWhat You Bring: A strong passion for learning and animal careComfort working with all insects arachnids (spiders) reptiles amphibians and mammalsExcellent fine motor skills and meticulous attention to detailStrong critical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of timeCapability and willingness to safely lift heavier objects up to 50 pounds using proper techniques and perform repetitive tasks on a daily or weekly basisGiven the nature of this role we are not able to consider applicants who have allergies to any of the following: fruit nuts fish and/or shellfish or severe allergies to animals animal dander plants or part-time position offers/requires flexible scheduling including weekdays weekends and holidays some weekend availability is an absolute necessity.
