Opportunity Summary:
Thriving Germantown is a multigenerational case management and care coordination program focused on the wellbeing of students at four elementary schools in the Upcounty region of Montgomery County Maryland. The program seeks a BSW Intern (or where appropriate a first year MSW Intern) to support the operations of the program including support with data entry and documentation social work assessment connecting families with resources and checking on the wellbeing of clients and families.
Opportunity Timeframe:
The intern would be expected to work between 12 and 16 hours per week during the normal business hours of 9 am to 5 pm.
Eligibility Requirements:
The student must be enrolled in a professional program in social work and registered for their internship experience.
Learning Model:
Our interns will receive both weekly individual and biweekly group supervision as well as the opportunity to participate in a special intern webinar series.
Learning Objective:
The student will learn the principles and practices of case management and care coordination. These are the foundational skills of social work practice involving the assessment of client needs across social psychological economic and health domains of functioning identifying strengths and deficiencies referral to supportive and therapeutic programming and motivational and supportive counseling.
Student Tasks:
1. Support with data entry and documentation to track client and family outcomes. 2. Interviewing clients to assess needs. 3. Researching and connecting clients with local programs and resources. 4. Offering brief supporting and motivational counseling.
