Office of Early Childhood Operations

Job Focus Area

As an Education Deputy Advisor within the Louisiana Department of Educations Office of Early Childhood Operations you will serve as a high-impact bridge between executive vision and statewide operational execution. This role is essential for managing the increased complexity of the Early Childhood Division and ensuring departmental milestones such as kindergarten readiness are met through rigorous oversight. You will lead strategic coordination by preparing executive briefings for BESE and the EC Council managing sensitive correspondence and facilitating communication across state agencies to align on educational outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader who excels at navigating the intersection of state and federal mandates while translating high-level policy into measurable results for Louisianas families.

Applicants with the following experience are encouraged to apply:
  • Extensive experience managing high-impact executive workflows including the preparation of sensitive briefing materials for governing bodies like BESE while serving as a primary liaison between state agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the complex intersection between State BESE Bulletins and Federal Mandates paired with the political acumen to analyze policy landscapes and advise leadership on the risks of various programmatic solutions

Minimum Qualifications

Nine years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus six years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus six years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus five years of experience in education teaching or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Manage sensitive correspondence maintain a Division-wide calendar of activities and ensure all communications meet agency standards before being disseminated on behalf of the office.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex programmatic challenges to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations.
  • Lead special projects such as the annual EC Conference with the authority to manage communications and vendors.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:Probational Promotional or Job Appointment.The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.

Work Schedule:Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Deputy Advisor series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $33.65 hourly $2692.31 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for this position. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and notthe maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
