IMB () is a research institute on the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz Germany. It is generously funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Our research in the Schick group focuses on the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation and chromatin organization by the BAF complex(es) using a variety of new methods and cell culture models. Causing cancer or developmental disorders the cellular consequences of defective chromatin regulation is center of our research interest. We are looking for a student assistant (m/f/d) to support us with organizational and scientific tasks (if possible 12-19 hours per week).
Tasks and responsibilities
Support with general laboratory organisation (e.g. material databases coordination of organisational matters processing of orders and deliveries)
Maintainance of laboratory safety and equipment
Support using molecular methods (e.g. cloning plasmid purification mycoplasma testing)
Support in cell culture with adherent cell lines and induced stem cells
Requirements
Good organisational skills and a high sense of responsibility
Motivation independence team spirit and flexibility
Experience with good scientific practice and accurate work in the laboratory
Student of biology molecular biology biomedicine or similar
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and German
