Job Summary

The Macon Area Career and Technical Education Center (MACTEC) is now accepting applications for a Family and Consumer Science Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

This position includes an additional Extra Duty stipend for FCCLA Advisor

The Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS) Teacher provides high-quality standards-based instruction in Career & Technical Education pathways related to family and consumer sciences. The teacher prepares students for college careers and lifelong success by delivery hands-on project-based learning experiences aligned to state CTE standards and industry expectations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid DESE issued Missouri Teaching Certificate or Certification in progress to be considered
  • Positive interpersonal relationship skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of digital resources tools and instructional applications

OR

Go through theCareer Education Temporary authorization route to certification: An individual with closely related occupational experience takes a prescribed list of coursework teaches for a minimum of two years and is mentored by the employing school district. The individual works under a one-year renewable certificate that requires the completion of six (6) semester hours of college credit each year in order to be renewed.

  • Must be employed by a Career Technical Center or school district with an approved program for Career Technical Education
  • Must possess one of the following qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4000) hours of Department-approved closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years; or
    • Associates degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5000) hours of Department-approved closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years; or
    • No degree and six thousand (6000) hours of Department-approved closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides instruction to students using effective instructional strategies.
  • Participates in curriculum review and design.
  • Creates and implements a classroom disciplinary plan.
  • Creates lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction.
  • Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly.
  • Participates in building grade level and/or subject area committees.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Maintains accurate student records including attendance grades and discipline.
  • Completes and submits forms and required reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicates regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns.
  • Reports suspected abuse neglect discrimination and harassment as directed by Board policy.
  • Prepares lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
  • Attends established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g. Back-to-School Night Open House programs activities and faculty meetings).
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.
