Job Title: RN Supervisor Cancer Center

Department: Cancer and Infusion

Reports To: Oncology Regional Director - Systems

Location: Cancer and Infusion Center

Job Summary:

Responsible for the daily operations of the Cancer and Infusion Center. Ensures the provision of patient-focused high-quality care that is both efficient and fiscally responsible. Supervises nursing team. Leads with strong interpersonal skills and flexibility. Maintains consistent and up-to-date policies across locations. Takes the lead in process improvement efforts. Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice incorporating assessment planning nursing diagnosis implementation and evaluation in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act recognized professional standards and organizational policy. Position will work a .3 Supervisor and .6 RN for a total of 36 hours a week. This is a perfect opportunity to work with a group of compassionate caregivers taking care of our community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide professional nursing care to Oncology and Infusion patients in an outpatient/clinical setting in close partnership with clinicians.
  2. Performs technical skills specific to assigned service area and other areas as appropriate.
  3. Assists in the development and evaluates the competency of all personnel on an ongoing basis and ensures staff maintain best current evidence-based clinical practice.
  4. Responsible for onboarding new staff and ongoing training for Medical Support.
  5. Manages sick calls and updates staffing plan for team.
  6. Support clinicians with daily tasks (triage calls test results paperwork etc.) and monitoring in-basket messages.
  7. Assists Clinic Manager with service line quality initiatives committees and system projects.
  8. Manage and investigate Aware incidents as appropriate.
  9. Assists Clinic Manager with staff performance evaluations coaching and corrective action as appropriate.
  10. Develops working knowledge and accountability for regulatory readiness and leads staff through continual process improvement and high reliability.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated high-quality care.
  12. Collaborate with other service areas to optimize patient flow and outcomes.
  13. Participate in process and quality improvement initiatives
  14. Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Duties & Responsibilities for This Service Area Leader

  1. Provide ongoing feedback coaching and training to staff based on performance metrics and service area trends.
  2. Evaluate nursing functions and recommend policy or procedural updates to maintain compliance and regulatory standards.
  3. Assist in developing and implementing annual service area goals and monitor progress toward completion.
  4. Conduct or assist with employee performance evaluations in collaboration with the Oncology leaders.
  5. Monitor staff workflows and promote a high level of customer and patient satisfaction.
  6. Ensure open two-way communication between employees and leadership addressing staff concerns promptly.
  7. Manage timekeeping attendance and related issue resolution.
  8. Collaborate with the Oncology leaders and other internal leaders to improve workflows and patient engagement.
  9. Lead and facilitate service area meetings.
  10. Support system upgrades and service-areaspecific software development.
  11. Maintain leadership and clinical competence through participation in professional development activities.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education Training or Degree Required:

  1. Current RN license in the state of Minnesota

License/Registration/Certification Required:(will be primary source verified by HR)

  1. Current CPR required

Experience and Skills:(indicate preferred or required)

  1. Three years of related experience (infusion CCU ED or M/S) required

  2. Supervisory experience preferred

  3. OCN Certification preferred if not certified will obtain within 6 months

  4. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients served along with appropriate support services to MD required. Familiarity with legal and insurance requirements related to documentation within the medical record required

  5. Strong human relations written and verbal communication skills required. Good verbal and written communication required.

  6. Critical thinking and the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks required.
