Are you passionate about preserving Colorados natural landscapes As a Vegetation Stewardship Lead you will be at the forefront of protecting Eagle Countys ecosystem. This role is a blend of technical field operations team leadership and community engagement.
Schedule: Monday through Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Generally May 1 to the end of October however this can be flexible.

Essential Functions
Summer Months
- Operates and maintains pesticide application vehicles and equipment; Performs vegetation management and controls noxious weeds utilizing best management practices including but not limited to: mechanical removal; herbicide applications; ecotypic and restoration seeding; biocontrol releases; and livestock management prescriptions.
- Communicates with landowners and other local agencies regarding noxious weed issues.
- Performs and trains staff on plant identification vegetation mapping and vegetation inventory using GPS software or mobile applications.
- Trains employees to operate equipment and apply pesticides safely.
- Collects pesticide application data and maintains clear and concise pesticide application records.
- Assists with the chemical sales program.
Always
- Observes safety and security procedures uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
- Serves the community by demonstrating Eagle County Governments mission and core values and following relevant policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Experience Licensure Certification or Registration:
- No minimum education is required; an Associates degree in Agriculture Rangeland Management Natural Resources or related field is preferred.
- Colorado Department of Agriculture Commercial Applicator Certified Operator License in categories 107 and 109 or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire date; upgrade license to a Qualified Supervisor with one (1) year of hire date.
- At least one (1) season of noxious weed management experience required; two or more (2) seasons is preferred.
- Valid Drivers License and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Safety: Ability to operate troubleshoot and maintain pesticide application equipment heavy equipment as well as vehicles such as ATVs tractors trailers snow plows electronic equipment etc.
- Technical Expertise: Read understand and follow written and verbal instructions in order to apply pesticides operate equipment and machinery.
- Self-directed: Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team environment.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in person on the phone or via email and with different audiences in a simple clear and concise manner.
- Analytical Thinking: Maintaining a high degree of accuracy in calculations and records.
- Technology and Information Management: Proficient in the use of information technology including email web navigation and software such as Google Suite GIS/GPS devices and applications.
- Natural Resource Skills: Knowledge of native and invasive species identification and restoration and reclamation principles.
- Flexibility: Demonstrating willingness to modify work schedule and switch tasks as needed.
