Duties & Responsibilities
About the Role
The Advanced Analytics function consists of focused business intelligence and predictive analytics teams supported by a production analytics capability that drives automation standardisation and insight excellence across the organisation.As Head of Advanced Data Science you will:
- Lead the design and execution of strategic data science initiatives aligned to business objectives
- Prototype and deploy predictive and prescriptive models using rapid iteration methodologies
- Advance machine learning capabilities and narrow AI solutions
- Champion explainable AI and communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to executive stakeholders and clients
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Data Software Development BI Product Sales and IT
- Mentor and develop a high-performing data science team
- Foster a culture of ownership innovation and continuous learning

Qualifications
- BCom/BSc (Honours) MCom/MSc or PhD in Statistics Mathematics or Computer Science
- Proven machine learning model-building experience
Experience
- 10 years relevant analytical experience
- Minimum 3 years in ML/AI
Technical Expertise
- Advanced data analysis and insight development
- Strong statistical and machine learning capabilities
- Proficiency in Python R and SQL
- Experience with TensorFlow Hugging Face FastAPI Flask or Django advantageous
- Experience with Docker and predictive model deployment in Microsoft Azure or similar environments
- Familiarity with virtualised applications and programming environments
- Agile methodology experience
- Strong documentation and report-writing capability
