Job Summary

Job Summary

The Commercial Director is responsible for shaping and executing the organizations go-to-market and revenue growth strategy in line with overall business objectives. This role oversees nationwide sales operations drives sustainable revenue and margin growth and ensures strong commercial execution across all channels. The Commercial Director plays a pivotal role in expanding market presence strengthening key client relationships and building and developing high-performing commercial teams. The position reports to executive leadership and is based in West Africa with national and regional travel required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a comprehensive commercial and channel strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Define sales targets revenue forecasts and strategic action plans to deliver topline growth and profitability.
  • Monitor commercial performance analyze variances and deploy corrective initiatives to close performance gaps.
  • Oversee end-to-end sales operations and ensure consistency in execution across all territories and channels.
  • Identify new business opportunities expand market penetration and strengthen strategic customer partnerships.
  • Lead mentor and develop sales teams fostering a performance-driven culture and succession planning.
  • Manage the commercial budget and ensure optimal allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
  • Establish and track KPIs dashboards and reporting frameworks to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing supply chain operations and finance to ensure alignment between demand generation and operational capabilities.
  • Conduct ongoing market intelligence and competitive analysis to refine positioning and commercial tactics.
  • Represent the organization in key negotiations and industry engagements.
  • Support product launches and contribute to integrated commercial and marketing plans.


Requirements

  • Masters degree in Business Administration Marketing or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in commercial leadership roles including at least 5 years in a senior management capacity within a structured organization preferably in the consumer goods or food production sectors.
  • Strong command of advanced sales management and negotiation practices.
  • Solid understanding of multi-channel distribution environments (traditional trade modern trade and foodservice channels).
  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing scalable commercial strategies.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning budgeting and performance analytics.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive engagement and accountability across teams.
  • Experience in talent development and change management within dynamic environments.
  • Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English.
  • Strong analytical thinking results orientation customer-centric mindset and ability to operate effectively in fast-paced settings.
