Position Summary
The Round Lake Area Park District is seeking an enthusiastic and inclusive group fitness instructor to lead Zumba Gold or similar low-impact high-energy music driven choreographed fitness classes designed for active older adults and beginners. This role focuses on creating a welcoming supportive environment that promotes movement entertainment and social connection through rhythm.
We are looking for a commitment of one weekday morning. Additional classes could be added in the future.
Responsibilities
- Lead safe engaging low-impact group fitness classes (e.g. Zumba Gold low-impact dance fitness chair-assisted fitness or similar)
- Provide movement options and modifications to meet varied ability levels
- Create a positive inclusive class atmosphere for participants of all fitness backgrounds
- Monitor participant safety and respond appropriately to individual needs
- Communicate with recreation staff regarding attendance equipment and program needs
Qualifications
- Current group fitness certification (Zumba Gold AFAA ACE SilverSneakers or similar) preferred
- Experience teaching older adults beginners or special populations strongly preferred
- Knowledge of low-impact movement and exercise modifications
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Friendly encouraging teaching style with strong interpersonal skills
