Job Summary

Duties and responsibilities:

Provide mechanical assistance to various departments within UFS.
Research design and manufacture laboratory (lab) and other equipment in collaboration with lecturers and postgraduate students.
Maintenance and repair of various lab equipment.
Installation of new equipment.
Upgrades to older equipment.
Drawing and design using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for example Solid Works.
Programming of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (Mill / Lath / Plasma / Waterjet / Laser).
General administration including but not limited to keeping of time sheets and records of services.

Inherent Job Requirements:

Completed trade as Tool Maker (Red Seal)(attach a copy).
A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a mechanical environment.
Competent in programming and working on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
Competent in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding.
Valid drivers license (attach copy)

Recommendations:

Five (5) years relevant experience working as a toolmaker in a tool room.
