Vassar Brothers Medical Centerlocated75 minutes north of New York City has an excellent opportunity for aregional OBGYN Chair of the womens health service line. This is a unique opportunity to be a clinical leader in a growing health system that has an established center of excellence in Womens Health. TheVassar OBGYN Chairwill lead a group ofobstetriciansand gynecologistsand work collaboratively withsystem leadership physicians advanced practice clinicians nursesanesthesiologists oncologists and neonatology to ensure the highest quality evidence-based care.
This position will be 0.6clinical as awomens healthphysicianin the Nuvance-Northwell employed practice and 0.4administrative as theVassar OBGYN Chair. This role will report to theSystem Womens Health Chairand help oversee the Nuvance-Northwell employed OBGYN physiciansin the Vassar region.
The Division of OB/GYNhasofficeslocatedin Poughkeepsie Fishkill and Highland NY.The practiceadmits exclusivelyto Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Our busy Labor and Delivery Unit sees about 2500 babies born each year. We have a level III NICU staffed by neonatologists as well as an excellentperinatology program.Our growing gynecology practice offers surgeryat Vassar Brothers Medical Center and the Fishkill Ambulatory Surgical Center.The Womens Health service line also includes a gynecologic oncology practiceat the Dyson Cancer Centerand a strong relationship with the oncology service line.
The ideal candidate will havethe following experience and qualifications:
  • At least5years of practice with preferred experience as anaccomplishedmember ofaleadership team of a large community teaching hospital and/or academic medical center.
  • Interestin working with a collaborative multidisciplinaryteam.
  • Experience working withnursing leadership and advanced practice clinicianspreferred.
  • The candidate must be MD/DO with completedOBGYNresidency training and board certification.
  • NY state licensure (or eligibility to obtainNY state licensure) is.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead a group of obstetriciansand gynecologistswho provide exceptional evidence-basedwomens healthclinicalcare.
  • Work collaboratively withsystem leadership physicians advanced practice clinicians nursesanesthesiologists oncologists and neonatologyto ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Review basic practices around the plan of care and develop protocols that are readily available to all Department staff providing care to patients.
  • Meet regularly withobstetrics and gynecologic team members asa partof the hospital leadership team.
  • Evaluate the use of clinical resources to ensure that they are used appropriately to enhance quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Assistwith the development and training of obstetricand gynecologicsimulation.
  • Participate in patient experience rounds with the nursing leadership team.
  • Participate in the Emergency Department/Obstetricsand Anesthesiologycare collaboration meetings.
  • Participate in the standardization of obstetricand gynecologicpatient care protocols at Hospital.
  • Review new product requests and processes for the Department.
  • Participate in the Department Performance Improvement committee meetings and Department grand rounds.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary planning meetings when ahigh riskdelivery requires complex coordination.
  • Participate in The Joint Commission/regulatorysurveyreadiness tracers.
  • Work with regional and system leadership to develop and implement an OBGYN residency program at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
  • Work with regional and system leadership todevelop and implement a MIGS fellowship program at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
  • Work with regional and system leadership to support ongoing recruitment and onboarding of new womens health physicians.
  • Oversee the employed Nuvance-Northwell physician teamswithin the womens health service line in the Vassar region including scheduling peer reviewmentorshiprecruitment onboarding performance reviews corrective action and coachingas needed.
  • Work closely with the System Womens Health Chair and Vice President of Womens Health to implement system initiatives in the Vassar region.
  • Collaborate with the Vassar Midwife Director to lead the obstetricsportionof the regional service line.
  • Work with the Vassar womens health medical practice leadership to ensure efficient high-quality operations in theoffice-based locations.
  • Support the growth of the surgical gynecology offerings within the practice including MIGS and robotic surgery.
  • Support the growth of family planningand urogynecology services in the region as the womens health service line expandsin the region.
  • Participate in regional and system committees and workgroups to supportbest-practiceinitiatives across the Nuvance-Northwell system.
