ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Supervisor Child Care Services is responsible for determining the eligibility of applicants for child care fee assistance in accordance with provincial legislation and Regional policies; ensuring the needs of applicants receiving child care fee assistance are considered as per their enrolment requirements; informing applicants of their rights and responsibilities for receiving child care fee assistance; informing service providers of Regional practices and reporting requirements; and maintaining accurate and current applicant provider and child profile information.
WHAT YOULL BE DOING
- Interviews applicants and verifies eligibility for child care fee assistance using required documentation in accordance with Provincial and Regional Guidelines.
- Reviews and verifies client eligibility; monitors compliance with program standards and agreements.
- Confirms child care enrolment and parent contribution with applicant and service provider.
- Performs routine case management functions through annual personal interviews and six month reviews for exceptional circumstances; directs contact with applicants file set up and maintenance and Ontario Child Care Management System (OCCMS) data entry.
- Verifies names of children receiving child care fee assistance according to child care management system and service providers record of attendance.
- Informs applicants of all aspects of fee assistance and advises applicants of support services available to them.
- Adheres to and maintains OCCMS standards.
- Inputs accurate and complete statistical information and forwards statistics monthly to the Supervisor.
- Liaises with Regional Staff; develops and maintains effective partnerships with community agencies.
- Represents the Department in the co-ordination and presentation of training sessions; provides orientation to new operators regarding attendance recording billing and invoicing procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Childhood Education or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two (2) years experience as an early childhood educator in a licensed early childhood program including supervisory or leadership experience or equivalent experience in a home child care environment.
- Valid Ontario Class G drivers license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
- Knowledge of relevant Standards Acts Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to childcare nurseries Ontario Works program and parenting programs.
- Knowledge of local community agencies and the services they provide.
- Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
