Director of Worship Arts

Role This part time position involves leadership and oversight of the Bethel University Worship Arts undergraduate program(s).
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and academic advising for all undergraduate students involved in major/minor academic programs pertaining to Worship Arts.
- Work with the Chair of Religion & Philosophy to:
- Arrange a schedule appropriate for students and adjunct faculty
- Manage the worship arts budget including royalty income from publishing with attention given to special projects and events.
- Oversee all recruitment efforts pertaining to undergraduate Worship Arts programs both on and off-campus. This includes meeting with prospective students and their parent(s) when they visit campus. These visits often happen on Monday/Friday and are scheduled at least a week in advance.
- Maintain the worship arts studio space and equipment (This can be done in coordination with independent contractors.)
- Create special performances or recording projects that will enhance the programs reputation. This will involve working with ministry leaders and directors to ensure opportunities for worship leadership as well as oversight of Nashville-based components of the program (songwriting recording study abroad programs etc.)
- Maintain 5 office hours each month to meet with students in the major.
- Teaching duties not to exceed 6 load hours annually.
- Maintain awareness of publications and curriculum pertaining to Worship Studies.
- Attend faculty/staff meetings for: Department of Religion & Philosophy.
- Seek to enhance and strengthen the Worship Arts program by way of curricular revisions and academic programs as needed.

- Uphold the mission of the University by abiding by the personal and academic policies and procedures and the Universitys Covenant of Lifestyle.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Masters degree pertaining to the field of Worship Studies/Worship Arts
- Minimum of five years of experience in full-time worship ministry leadership (preferred)
- Teaching experience in Christian higher education (preferred)
- Skilled in worship ensemble leadership
- Demonstrated excellence in worship arts/studies pedagogy and performance
Other Skills
- Able to work independently organized detail-oriented cheerful flexible and willing to follow instructions both verbal and written.
- Take pride in representing Bethel University at relevant recruitment events as well as on/off-campus performances
Physical Requirements
- Physical capability to lift equipment up to 30lbs and push heavy equipment on castors (less than 200lb).
