Matrix Providers is hiring a Medical Record Technician - Neurology to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda Maryland.
- Employment Status: Full-Time
- Schedule: Medical Record Technician Neurology services are required Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 and 1630.
- Compensation: $27.18/hr $5.09 H&W

Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Must have one year experience or specialized Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator certification required.
- Experience: Must have one year experience or specialized Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator certification required.
- Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course.
- Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
Core Duties:
- Schedules appointments in a government computer system for primary care specialty and subspecialty medical addition to scheduling requested appointments this position will call patients or respond to secure messaging submissions to schedule reschedule and/or cancel appointments as needed to include appointments for consult/referral specialty care within the MTF or at civilian facilities.
- Shall be able to read write speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
- The ability to meet and deal with the general public.
- The ability to construct and write clear concise detailed and accurate reports.
- Practical knowledge of data verification review editing techniques and management of digital files.
- Shall have a general knowledge of networking and relational database design and overall computer system management.
- Shall support the provisions of the (HIPAA) the Privacy Act and other such directives.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn in-house systems i.e. Ambulatory Data Systems (ADS); Medical Health System Genesis (MHS Genesis) and Corporate Information System (CIS).
- Knowledge of medical terminology required in transcribing appropriate entries into medical records and other medical documents and forms.
- Working knowledge of clinic/unit functions and services to properly arrange patient appointments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office software (i.e. Word Excel Outlook and Power Point).
- Skill in informally resolving problems through discussion with patients voicing complaints.
- Working knowledge resolving problems through discussion with patients voicing complaints.
- Ability to format spelling grammar and punctuation to type a variety of material.
- Ability to type at least 50 WPM.
- Must have current Basic Life Support Automated External Defibrillator (BLS/AED) resuscitative medicine training certificate.
- Unique Military Health Care Systems/Procedures:
- Medical Health System Genesis (MHS Genesis).
- Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERs)
- Military Filing System
- Defense Medical Human Resources System-internet (DMHRSi)
- Enter manipulate and/or retrieve information and data from the Medical Health System Genesis (MHS Genesis) the Ambulatory Data System (ADS) and the Clinical Information System (CIS) as appropriate to the area assigned.
- Transcribe physician and nursing orders involving patient activities diets and medications as necessary in the appropriate manual or automated system.
- Schedule patient appointments on MHS Genesis.
- Creates maintain and monitor patient appointment schedules for the unit/clinic.
- Coordinate and/or schedule patient appointments with other clinics or specialties when required. Verifies eligibility for care and contacts Patient Administration for verification when necessary.
- Notify Government of the patients arrival monitor and communicate delays in scheduled appointments to the government and patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact in person or telephonically.
- Take telephone consults.
- Record and relay messages and/or redirect calls as necessary.
- Refer urgent messages and patient results for immediate actions.
- Obtain identifying information and determine the nature of the visit/call.
- Insure eligibility for care and contact Patient Administration for verification when necessary.
- Provide information regarding unit clinic and hospital policies procedures and locations to patients family members staff etc. or refer to other resources for difficult questions or concerns.
- Monitor and communicate delays in scheduled appointments to the appropriate staff and patients.
- Attempt to resolve complaints of a local administrative nature and refer other complaints to appropriate authorities.
- Notify appropriate staff of the patients arrival.
- Reconcile end of day processing and reports on MHS Genesis.
- Type routine correspondence progress reports medical statements memorandum and statistical reports using various automation systems and programs.
- Provide an average of 16000 administrative support actions annually at an average rate of 4 support actions an hour.
