Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery (WCHB) is part of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery organization which develops a broad portfolio of surgical technologies including sutures skin adhesives hemostasis solutions staplers trocars energy devices and synthetic mesh used across minimally invasive and open procedures.

The WCHB R&D team in Raritan NJ is excited to welcome applicants for our Summer/Fall 2026 R&D CoOp opportunity. If you are passionate about innovation in healthcare and believe your background aligns we encourage you to explore the details below and applywe would be delighted to consider you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside scientists to perform wet chemistry and chromatography supporting new product development and lifecycle management.
  • Conduct daily laboratory tasks including sample preparation testing data collection notebook documentation data analysis and reporting.
  • Log in and manage samples submitted by the stability group.
  • Follow safe and environmentally responsible laboratory practices in alignment with regulatory and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate findings clearly through written and verbal reports.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and lab notebooks in accordance with company procedures and FDA/ICH requirements.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a BA/BS Masters or Ph.D. in Chemistry Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Candidates must not be graduating prior to the program end date unless willing and permitted to extend their graduation timeline.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required.

Required Skills:

  • Foundational chemistry laboratory skills.
  • Must be authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without requiring future visa sponsorship (e.g. F1 H1B).
  • Ability to work fulltime (40 hours/week) with reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior benchlevel chemistry experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g. H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT OPT or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$23.00/hr to $51.50/hr

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The expected pay range for this position is between $23.00 per hour and $51.50 per hour but will be based on candidates program year discipline degree and/or -Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the -Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington up to 56 hours per calendar -Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Companys consolidated retirement plan (pension).
