Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seekingcollegestudents to work in our Minneapolis office. These positionsusuallyrequirea minimum30 hourten weekcommitment.

Practice Group:

Immigration Law Project (ILP): ILP provides legal representation to clients in a full range of immigration contexts including removal/deportation defense adjustment of status citizenship and VAWA-based cases (U and T visas).Collegeinternsmust befluent in a second language preferably Spanish or Somali. Job duties would include: (1) assisting with outreach opportunities (2) interpretation and translation (3) assisting with preparing forms for immigration filings (4) country conditions research and (5) assisting the Immigration Law Project in developing templates and brief banks to permit our staff to most efficiently serve our clients among other duties appropriate to the interns abilities and serving the needs of ILP clients.

  • Duties asdescribed above and otheradditionalassignedduties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the needs of low-income/vulnerable clients.

  • Proficiencyusing Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent attention to detail interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments while building collaborative relationships with clients staff and the community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diverse economic social or cultural experiences preferred.
