GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Health Health Care Financing Client Services Unit is seeking a Benefits & Eligibility Specialist for Cheyenne. This position will serve as a Benefits and Eligibility Specialist for the Medicaid Client Services Unit. This position is responsible for determining eligibility for Wyomings Long-Term Care programs.Working for the State of Wyoming offers more than a paycheck. Our total compensation package includes:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.- Assesses and analyzes current life and financial circumstances to determine eligibility and provide long-term care (LTC) medical assistance to individuals and families in need
- Makes eligibility determinations and performs case management
- Responsible and accountable for timely and accurate LTC determinations.
- Interact with clients and other State agencies/divisions to determine initial eligibility for programs involving Federal and State Funds. Responsible for determining which program(s) best meet the needs of the client.
- Policy review and training
- Interaction with Community State and Federal Partners
- Preparation for and participation in hearings
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience in the related field. or 3-5 years of progressive work experience in a healthcare setting.
KNOWLEDGE:- Computer literacy and ability to use word processing and tables/mathematical software.
- Knowledge of and ability to communicate and interact with individuals with cognitive emotional and/or physical disabilities.
- Mathematical knowledge and ability to make basic and/or algebraic calculations without error.
- Knowledge of and skill in clear concise and grammatically correct verbal and written communication.
- Ability to analyze and apply correct policy and procedure to diverse case and client circumstances so that cases are completed without error.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Bachelors DegreeExperience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Benefits and Eligibility Specialist IOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Benefits and Eligibility Specialist ICertificates Licenses Registrations:NoneNecessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- The employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however there may be some walking standing bending carrying light items driving an automobile etc.
